Meet the Jurors!
We are honored to have Max Rain and Christine Canepa as our special High School Art Show Jurors this year!

Max Rain is an artist and educator who lives in the Aptos forest with his wife, two kids, and a small hyper dog. He has been teaching art at colleges across the Bay Area for fifteen years and has been teaching full time at Gavilan College since 2019, where he is the program lead for Studio Art and Art History and the Co-Department Chair for Fine Arts. His work consists primarily of ceramic and drawing and often takes the form of figural narrative tableaus. In his work, he attempts to depict snapshots of daily life, highlighting social dynamics and features of human interaction. He is impressed and astounded at the phenomenal quality of artwork coming out of Morgan Hill High Schools!
Christine Canepa is an artist and educator based in Oakland, California. She has been teaching for over 20 years at various institutions including Gavilan College, San Jose State University, San Jose Museum of Art, and the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art. She has exhibited her work both locally and nationally. She has also curated exhibitions at various arts organizations, and briefly headed a nomadic gallery, Taco Truck. Her work deals with the speculative potential of existential transformations, using various animal-made structures as a visual device to explore the negotiation between abstraction and representation.
